Asbestos Management Survey Example

The property and agreed scope

The source report describes a two-storey residential building converted into two self-contained flats. Its agreed survey scope was the small shared entrance and ground-floor communal hallway.

The report describes taking one bulk sample of the suspect ceiling coating for laboratory analysis.

What the scope excluded

The agreed scope excluded the private flat interiors, upper-floor staircases, roof spaces, sub-floor voids and external brickwork. A survey limited to a communal hallway does not establish the asbestos status of the rest of the building.

Why the scope matters

When requesting a quote, identify the rooms or shared areas involved and explain whether the enquiry concerns normal use, maintenance or planned renovation. The quotation and report should make the agreed coverage and exclusions clear.
